How it Works

Researchers can choose to either import Qualtrics Data or Custom Data. Importing Qualtrics Data will allow you to import text entries, multiple choice and ranking questions. All other question types contained in your Qualtrics survey will be excluded. Custom Data import only supports open text responses provided in our CSV template, which you can find below.

Please note that the current limit for Ask Experience responses is 500 characters, meaning that imported open end responses exceeding 500 characters will be truncated. We are exploring expansion of character limits to support additional use cases.

Qualtrics Data Import

  1. Before importing your Qualtrics data you will need to obtain two files, a QSF that is the discussion guide information and a CSV that is the response data.
  2. For the QSF file, navigate to Qualtrics and click the Tools drop down from the Survey tab. Scroll to Import/Export and then click Export survey.
  3. For the CSV file, go to the Data & Analysis tab, click Export & Import and then Export Data. In the Download a data table modal, make sure that you have the following fields selected: Download all fields and Use choice text. Then click the More Options button and select Split mulit-value fields into columns. Then click Download.
  4. Navigate to the Remesh platform and click the blue plus button at the top right of your screen then External Data Import. Select Qualtrics from the drop down, and Next.
  5. Select the team you would like to import to, then select your QSF and CSV files. You’ll also have the option to list any metadata that you would like to designate as Segments for analysis. You can read more about this in the Analyzing External Data in Remesh section below.
  6. Once you proceed, you will see a preview of the eligible questions for import. Click Submit Files to begin importing. This process may take a few minutes. The imported data will appear on your dashboard as a Conversation, with the following icon:

  2. When completing your CSV file, row 1 is mandatory. The title is also mandatory and will be used to search and identify this in your Remesh dashboard. The language is mandagory and should be the two letter code associated with the language the research was conducted in. Start and End time are optional, but please leave B1 and C1 as is if you do not utilize start and end.
  3. Column A will contain participant IDs which is an alphanumeric code that will be used to identify each participant. You can create any participant IDs that work best for you.
