Audience Participant Links

Overview

Remesh participants access Conversations via a link and they can complete a Remesh Conversation on any device that has access to the internet and an up to date supported browser. If you are recruiting your own audience, you will need to send all participants a link.

This article will provide a more in depth look at our types of links and how they work. If you are looking for information about how to manage your audience recruitment and communication within Remesh, we recommend checking out our recruiting and managing your audience document.

Single Participant Link

A single link will be shared with all participants. Participants cannot be tracked and anonymity will be maintained.

Use case: We recommend using this method if you are conducting Employee Research, as the responses will be completely anonymous.

Tracking Participants: If you send the same link to all participants, there is no way to track participants.

How to: Choose a single link by selected by selecting “no” to “Track Participants with Unique Links” on the Audience Page.

Unique Participant Links

Links with unique identifiers attached will be generated and assigned to each participant. Participants will access the conversation with their assigned link and will be tracked to identify who accessed the Conversation. This is not restricted to the unique links that have been downloaded, but if a participant uses the generic link they will not be able to get in.

Use case: We recommend using this method if you would like to track participants and incentivize them.

Tracking Participants: Using this method, you can track participants using their assigned participant identifier to see how much of the Conversation they have completed and how they’ve responded to questions.

How to:

Choose unique links by selecting “yes” to “Track Participants with Unique Links” on the Audience Page.

If utilizing Unique Links every participant that joins must be utilizing a unique link in order to enter the session. This is not restricted to the unique links that have been downloaded, but if a participant uses the generic link they will not be able to get in.

When utilizing unique links, you also have the option to upload external participant data. Uploading participant data allows you to bring in external demographic data such as from a screener or HRIS, rather than asking these questions again. You can read more about this feature here.

Tracking Participants

If you opted to track participants with unique links, after your Conversation has ended you can return to the Audience page to review which participants accessed the Conversation and how much they completed. If you opted to manage email communication on Remesh, you will see the email associated with each participant along with how much of the Conversation they completed. If you did not mange email communication on Remesh and utilized unique links, you will see the unique link along with participation rates, but not the participants’ emails.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can I customize or change the participant link for a conversation?
    • Single Participant Links: Each conversation's participant links are specific to that conversation and cannot be changed.
    • Unique Links: You are able to customize the unique IDs found after the ?pid= in the unique links, but we recommend exercising caution when doing this and testing them ahead of your Conversation, as we cannot guarantee customized unique ID links will be successful. We also recommend limiting any custom IDs to alphanumeric characters.
    • Participant Data Upload: You are able to customize the unique IDs found after the ?pid= in the unique links downloaded, but we recommend exercising caution when doing this and testing them ahead of your Conversation, as we cannot guarantee customized unique ID links will be successful. Please note that once your participant data is uploaded, you can no longer change the links.
  • Is there a way for two conversations to have the same link?
While there is not a way for two conversations to have the same link, you can convert or reopen a conversation which would keep the same link. Learn more about these options here!
  • If I forgot to send participants unique links, is there any way to recover participant information?
We do not have a way to track participants without using unique links. You may be able to determine participant identity from click through rates if you have access to that information, or you can recontact participants and confirm their attendance.
  • Can I make a QR code using the participant link?
Yes! Currently you cannot create a QR code within the platform, but many users have successfully created QR codes with external websites. We always recommend testing the QR code before sharing it with your participants.
  • Can Remesh be accessed by participants on a shared device?
Yes, Remesh can be accessed on a shared device! Please keep in mind that if you intend to have multiple participants access a Flex Conversation on the same device, the browser will save progress for 24 hours. We recommend utilizing a Chrome incognito window in this instance.
  • Why would I want to allow multiple devices to access a single link?
This may be helpful if you'd like to assign the same link to groups of participants for tracking purposes. For example, if you'd like to assign all users who you are recruiting through a certain source the same link and all users from another source a different link, Note that you would not be able to track individual participants if multiple participants access the same link.
  • How do the unique links work?
You can see an example of unique links below:

When a participant clicks their unique link, it will pass through the Unique ID, seen after the ?pid= Then, when the session has ended, from the Audience page or Participant Data Export you will be able to see which links accessed and how much of the Conversation they completed. If you utilized our audience management and uploaded participant emails alongside your unique links, then from the audience page you would also see the participants’ emails and their assigned link along with completion rates.
