Exporting Discussion Guides

Overview

You can export a discussion guide from Remesh to review, share, or edit it outside the platform. Discussion guides can be exported as a CSV file or a Word document. Word documents can be edited and re-uploaded to update the existing discussion guide.

Only moderators with edit access to the Conversation can export a discussion guide.

How It Works

Exporting happens directly from the Conversation Discussion Guide space.

  1. Open your Conversation.

  2. Navigate to the Build section.

  3. Open the Discussion Guide page.

  4. Click Export in the top right corner.

  5. Select CSV or DOCX.

Exports Include:

  • Question text

  • Question type

  • Answer options

  • Timing

  • Sections

  • Question settings

When to Use This

A CSV export is useful if you want to save a copy of your discussion guide for your records. CSV exports are intended for reference and documentation. 

A Word document export is designed for easy reading and collaboration. Many teams use the Word export to review the guide with stakeholders and collect feedback before the Conversation.


Edit and Re-upload a Word Document

After exporting a discussion guide as a Word document, you can edit it in the Word document and upload it back into Remesh to update the existing discussion guide. This can be helpful if you are hoping to share your Discussion Guide with stakeholders for feedback and want to import the finalized guide. There are no formal formatting constraints when editing the Word document, but please note that currently branching questions cannot be added or edited in the Word document. Any branching logic must be managed directly in the platform. 


Frequently Asked Questions

  • Who can export a discussion guide?
    Only moderators can export a discussion guide. Observers will not have the ability.

  • Can I re-upload a CSV file?
    CSV exports are for reference and while they could be reformatted into our Excel Upload template, it would require a bit of adjusting.

  • Will re-uploading a Word document overwrite my discussion guide?
    Yes. Re-uploading a Word document updates the existing discussion guide.

  • Can I edit branching questions in Word?
    No. Branching questions cannot be added or edited in a Word document.
